Biography
Popi Asteriadi was born in Athens, grew up and has lived in the Evangelistria area of Piraeus since 1973. She was one of the most important representatives of the New Wave. She made her debut at the age of 15 in G. Economidis' "New Talents", passed the exams of the then Radio and immediately became famous. Her participation, three years later, in the Thessaloniki Song Festival and immediately after the release of her first album was the beginning of her great career in Greek artistic singing. She faithfully served the quality of Greek song and actively participated in the "Cultural Spring" of the 1960s-1970s. He collaborated with Manos Hadjidakis, Yannis Spanos, Mimi Plessas, Nikos Gatsos, Lefteris Papadopoulos, Nikos Mamagakis, Linos Kokkottos, Stavros Kougioumzis, Notis Mavroudis and many other composers and poets, who left their mark on the modern history of Greek artistic music. He sought to promote our musical culture through theater, cinema, television, radio, international festivals, and tours in Greece and abroad.
