Biography
Togo Mizrahi (Arabic: توجو مزراحي) (June 2, 1901 – June 5, 1986) was an Egyptian director, actor, producer, and screenwriter. Mizrahi was a prolific filmmaker best known for making popular comedies and musicals. In addition to his filmmaking, Mizrahi also had his Ph.D. in economics and was a speaker of many languages.[1] For the majority of his career, Mizrahi produced, directed, and wrote most of his films.[2] Between 1930 and 1946, he directed 30 Arabic-speaking films and four Greek-speaking films, and he produced several films directed by other filmmakers.

Ahmed hopes to marry Dawlat, the sister of his friend, but because of the social and financial gulf between them, her father refuses to approve the match. Ahmed sends him a letter formally asking for Dawlat's hand in marriage, but her cousin Ibrahim tears away part of the letter, reversing the meaning of what remains. Reading the incomplete letter, Dawlat mistakenly believes that Ahmed is only after her fortune. Enraged, she lashes him across the face with a whip, driving him insane, and he is committed to a mental hospital. Later, Dawlat discovers the missing half of the letter and finally learns the truth.

Fatima is a poor wife married to Hamido the sailor. Due to financial constraints, she pawns her jewelry to cover household expenses. She meets Umm Mahmoud, who is often away from home for work. Umm Mahmoud offers to arrange an evening with Ali Bey for Fatima. She goes to visit him, and her husband arrives, becoming suspicious. A dispute arises between them.
